Polycarbonate retrofit solutions help extend the life of historic steel-sash hangar windows (dating back to the early era of commercial aviaition) while maintaining the architectural character of landmark aviation facilities.
American Aero | Fort Worth, Texas
1933 American Airways Hangar
A historic hangar that played a role in the early development of American Airways and American Airlines. EXTECH retrofitted its multi-lite steel-sash windows with polycarbonate as part of the building’s restoration, maintaining the distinctive appearance of the original glazing while bringing a modern material into the historic structure. The glazing improved thermal and weather performance while providing more durability and impact resistance than traditional glass.
Capital City Airport | Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
1930s Historic airport hangar
A historic airport facility where EXTECH similarly applied polycarbonate to existing steel-sash windows, preserving the character of the façade while extending the useful life of the building’s daylighting system. The replacement glazing retains the original visual rhythm of the historic hangar, without the heavy weight and expense of replacement glass.
