Our Aluminum Framing Systems

The key to a beautiful and effective daylighting solution is the framing.

Since 1975, EXTECH has fabricated and customized aluminum framing extrusions for nearly every type of building application. In over 45 years of experience, not only did we refine our extruding expertise, we’ve learned that a system's seamless integration requires detailed attention to the frame engineering.

The framing is the most important aspect of daylighting.

Some daylighting providers sell generic framing systems they received from their polycarbonate panel suppliers. Generic framing solutions are not designed to deliver a durable and long-lasting performance. Though outsourcing the framing may allow providers to sell systems at a cheaper price, it puts their customers at a huge disadvantage - what they don’t disclose is that the generic system will cost more due to the extra labor and hardware it mandates.

What makes our framing systems different?

Frame Depth

The framing system needs to be designed in accordance with calculated thermal movement of thermoplastics. Depending on the environment, thermoplastics can expand and contract in different weather conditions. Designing systems based on this movement is at the heart of our framing design.

Water Management

Weep holes and unique overlapping framing are some ways that we’ve engineered our systems to prevent moisture.  It’s imperative to prevent weep holes being filled with sealant during installation.

Gasketing

Improper gasketing can cause too much movement or even framing to buckle. To keep panels in place, while allowing thermal movement, our gasketing is designed to fit the frame and glazing depth.

Engineered for success

Since the use of generic framing is fraught with complications, we avoid using it. EXTECH’s patented framing systems were created to allow for customization on every project, and our engineers partner with clients to develop die designs and drawings that seamlessly integrate into every aspect of their application. Our extrusion process is always done in-house by EXTECH engineers who possess customization skills honed through decades of experience.

The combination of our customization experience, commitment to partnership, and determination to deliver solutions results in streamlined systems that are stunning, easy to install, and offer long-term cost-savings.

Bad framing can result in many issues, such as leaks, blown out framing, cracks, and deterioration over time. This is why we’ve engineered our framing systems unique to our glazing types.   We’ve spent years perfecting our framing systems for optimal use in the field. Our highly engineered systems are designed to eliminate frustrations in the field and cut down on installation time.
