We are delighted to announce that the KINETICWALL dynamic façade system is the winner of Architectural Products 2017 Product Innovation Award in the Fenestration products category.
Created and manufactured by EXTECH/Exterior Technologies, Inc., the KINETICWALL is comprised of typically 6-inch flappers that move with the wind, creating an eye-catching aesthetic. It is customizable and can be designed to accommodate a variety of materials. Structurally designed to withstand hurricane-force winds and torrential rainfall, it is light enough to enable easy installation, air flow, and visibility from the inside. The KINETICWALL also reduces solar heat gain, and the spacers between the flappers remove the chance for collateral noise.
“We are thrilled that Architectural Products chose the KINETICWALL for this honor,” says Jim Leslie, General Manager of EXTECH/Exterior Technologies. “The KINETICWALL offers many design opportunities and architectural benefits, so we’re happy that the world is recognizing what an innovative product it is. I think so far we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the possibilities that can be achieved with this system.”
The Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards (PIAs) determine and honor innovation in the development and refinement of buildings-related products that range the gamut from cladding systems to interior finishes. Judged by a group of 18 independent industry professionals, the program represents a mechanism to impartially review products and present to readers items their peers found innovative and worth investigating. “Building on the success of last year’s program, our seventh edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” says Jim Crockett, Editorial Director of Architectural Products Magazine.
Products were assigned to the judges—a diverse body including architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran A/E/C writers—based on their expertise and interest. Judges were asked to simply assign a numerical grade to each entry and comment on particular aspects of the product they found innovative or intriguing.
