Delbarton North Field House

Opened to the public on April 13, 2023, Delbarton School’s new fieldhouse and athletic facilities are completed for coaches, fans, and athletes to enjoy.

The school’s latest improvements include a 32,000 SF athletic facility, named the Pizzo Family Field House. This project, designed by NK Architects in NJ, features many amenities including a reception hall, training rooms, viewing balconies for fans, and coach offices. The building is integrated with a sloping topology.

EXTECH’s LIGHTWALL 3450 was chosen to wrap the building in daylighting. 2860 SF of the thermally broken, 50mm polycarbonate tongue and groove wall system spans the upper portion of the facility. The tapered head of the system follows the sloping of the roof, creating a unique trapezoidal shape.

On the north side of the building, facing the athletic field, the LIGHTWALL 3450 is fixed behind the Delbarton signage. At night, the translucent wall glows as a backdrop. Polycarbonate corner wraps were integrated, providing seamless daylighting. The LIGHTWALL 3450 system also spans the south perimeter of the building, providing clerestory lighting.

The 50mm opal polycarbonate panels are co-extruded with a UV-resistant layer for colorfastness. The 11-wall panels offer excellent impact resistance and insulation when integrated with EXTECH’s aluminum framing systems. The systems are factory fabricated with panels and extrusions cut to size, pre-drilled holes, and gaskets installed – a feature often praised by installers for speeding up installation and eliminating guesswork at the installation site.

This specific system and panel type offers 20% LT, a U-value of 0.19, and SHGC of .30. The system is Class A, CC1 fire resistant.

Backed by EXTECH’s system warranty, finish warranty, and glazing warranty, Delbarton’s coaches, faculty, fans, and students will occupy the new space for years to come.
